Industrial Symbiosis Waste Exchange Identification and Optimization

Industrial symbiosis is the concept that waste from industrial processes can be diverted and then reused as inputs into co-located entities. While research to date has identified successful examples of characterized formation processes, little known about how new eco-industrial parks designed their performance optimized. In this paper, we describe modeled optimized during development phase assist in creation parks. We present a database framework, exchange identification algorithm, Python-based optimization system generates mixed-integer linear programming model minimize amount non-recycled produced. illustrate functionality approach on three test cases demonstrate increasing levels complexity. The also accommodate multiple objectives, allowing further exploration benefits at design stage.
